Eco Friendly Yoga Mats: Jade Yoga Mat

Eco Friendly Yoga Mats - Jade Yoga Mat

Slipping on your mat is no fun if you’re trying to perfect a pose. So if you sweat heavily during yoga, eco friendly yoga mats with good traction are something you’ll definitely need for a good practice. You can try the Jade Harmony Professional Yoga Mat, an absorbent and spongy mat made of natural rubber that will help you to avoid slipping while cushioning your body too.

Pros

  • Absorbent. If you want to focus on your yoga practice without having to worry about losing your balance, the Jade Yoga Mat is a good choice. It absorbs your sweat through its open cell surface making it easy for your feet or hands to have good traction.
  • Sticky and spongy. You’ll also have steadier footing because the surface of the mat is sticky. This mat is kind to your bones and joints too because it’s structured to be quite spongy.
  • Extra long. Coming in 68 – inch and 74 – inch lengths,  this extra long mat is also good for the taller yogis who need extra space to practice.
  • Eco – friendly. And if you’re an environment – friendly yogi, you can be assured that this mat is made of all natural rubber, it’s free from harmful PVCs and it will disintegrate after you’ve put it to good use. Click here to buy this mat at a discounted price at Amazon.com >>

Cons

Of course, not all eco friendly yoga mats can be entirely perfect so before you buy this mat, be aware of the possible cons first.

  • Rubbery smell. Common to all eco friendly yoga mats, the Jade Yoga Mat also has that rubbery smell. Some owners advise airing the mat first before using so that the smell will have faded by the time you use it while some say washing the mat with soap and water before using it helps a lot.
  • Extra cleaning. It should also be mentioned that while the open cell structure of the mat is good for absorbing sweat, it might also be a breeding ground for bacteria if the mat is not cleaned properly. So it would be best to take extra effort to keep this mat clean thoroughly.
  • Crumbling. How you maintain the mat may also be a factor to how long it lasts. Some owners attest to the Jade Yoga mat’s durability while some say it wears out and crumbles too easily. So this one may be up to the user rather than the product itself.

Jade Yoga Mat

Jade yoga mat owners had this to say about the mat:

Eric Read:
These mats are much more “sticky” than the average mat even when I am sweating from a hot practice. They are also thicker and can be purchased in a longer version (good for tall people and angle or lunge poses). Some people are bothered by the rubber smell – I hung mine over a rod for a week and it seems fine. The sustainability was important to me too – a natural product helps me feel more connected to the world than a petroleum product. I recommend these to my students and to you too!

Mark Twain:
This mat comes closest to meeting all my needs. I particularly like the extra length. It’s not enough to get in the way in the yoga studio, but it is enough keep me from stepping off on those wide stances. And I am considered average height for a man. At the studio, they have some Jades that are over a year old, and they have a great grip.
